Dart flights gee many different shapes and sizes. You can even get
hollow flights called clear ways. There may be many different reasons
why you would want different flights. The number 1 one reason be to
adjust the arc and maintain the stability of your dart. There
different textures that are used too. Dimplex or embossed, 2-d glitter,
cracked glass, polymetronic or poly, plastic, reseal, foil. and woven
nylon. Dimplex basically makes the flight more rigid and creates a
little more drag and are a tiny bit lighter maybe .1 gram. The poly's
are just harder and rigid and generally a little less expensive. Images
on the poly's tend to fade more than others. 2-d glitter, cracked glass
and holo's are just poly's with a little flair. Seasoned darters do not
like these because they reflect too much. The woven nylons last longer
than all the others but they are about .3-.5 grams heavier and they
tend to break the shafts sooner. Nylon flights generally are harder to
put on the shafts. Foils are lighter but do not last as long as most
flights.
