Chinese Motorcycles and Scooters

This is to help people who want to purchase a motorcycle or scooter but you are like a lot of people. Limited ingee!!! I am no dealer and I do not work for any dealer.I have been working on motorcycles, cars and trucks for over 35 years and have been to mechanics school and have two degrees to hang on the wall so I do know a little about mechanics.Last year my brother had one of his workers buy one of the chinese motor scooters. He put it togeather at the store in a just a few hours. He really like it and was driving it back and forth to work and all over here.My brother thought they looked so good he bought 4 of them in four different colors to sell.I got them out of the crate and started putting them togeather.I was really impressed on the workmanship of such a cheap priced piece of equipment. We tightened all of the bolts we worked with and retightened the ones that were already in place. My brother sold all of his scooters and every one of them are still running like a top.One guy purchased one and gave it to his son.Well his son has rode it to death.I mean he really rode it hard and it is still running like a top also.If that kid cant break it it has to be tough. There are some people out there who have bought them and have cried and geplained about them being junk and falling apart. If they had of used some loctite and retightened the bolts they would still have one running. The big name brand cycles gee in a crate just like the chinese one's do.The dealers have to put them together also. The dealer has one of their mechanics tighten and retighten the bolts. They do the same thing that you will be doing if you get one. Here's the story with the pro's and the cons.To start with you do have plastic fenders on the chinese motorcycles. The cons are they are not steel but the pros are they bend and gee back, they dont get dents like steel ones. They are really cheap to replace. Also you have to put them together instead of just picking it up whole at a motorcycle shop but you can put them together yourself. They are not hard to put together. They will have the front wheel off and the front axle will be bolted to the crate. The handle bars will be off but it will still have all the cables inplace. You will be putting on the mirrors. Then you need to check all the bolts and put some of the blue locktite on all of the threads. You want the bolts to be tite but you can still loosen them if you need to.Now Parts!!! All of the importers will have all the parts you will need.If you buy from one of the small dealers you might have a little problem but so far I have not seen a problems there. Also there are a lot of people selling these now and soon there will be parts everywhere.Honda dealers will not work on them but they wont work on any of the others even if they are big names.Yamaha dealers are the same way.No dealers like to work on anything except what they sell. The dealers dont like to even work on the same brand they sell if you did not buy from them. You will need to get yourself a service manual so you will be able to work with it and see the part numbers so if you do have a break down you can order your parts by the correct number. Also,by the way I have since bought one for myself and I love it.So dont let someone scare you off from buying one.If you do get one, have fun and be careful riding.
